										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>An exceptional moment for the Department was the award of the best clinical study in the International Osteology Symposium in Monaco on 10-12 of May 2007 for the clinical study &#8220;Guided bone regeneration for residual ridge augmentation: Clinical, histologic and histomorphometric study in 46 patients.&#8221;</p>
<p>On April 2019 the same clinical study was awarded in New York University Research day when presented by Dr Eirini Zampara. The study involved once again the guided bone regeneration for residual ridge augmentation which was further broaden throughout the years with additional clinical cases.</p>
<p>The study involves the use of various different regenerative materials (autogenous bone, allograft, PRP, resorbable membrane, non-resorbable membrane) for  guided bone regeneration (vertical and horizontal ridge augmentation, sinus augmentation, alveolar ridge preservation) and the histologic and histomorphometric analysis of the regenerated bone in order to conclude to the most suitable grafting material.</p>
<p>The results of our clinical study concluded that the use of autogenous bone combined with allograft material and non-resorbable membranes resulted in the best possible outcome in cases where extensive bone regeneration was required prior to implant placement.</p>
